We also welcome help from individuals with a legal or journalism background. We offer paid and unpaid internships, as well as volunteer opportunities. Lawyers, journalists, and law students of all levels are especially encouraged to apply.
Applicants should have a demonstrated interest in and enthusiasm for journalism, citizen media or technology-related legal issues, along with excellent research and writing skills and the initiative and energy to see projects to completion in a fast-moving environment.
Current Job Openings at the CMLP
Public Interest Attorney
The CMLP has a limited number of positions available for attorneys who have been granted a sabbatical from their law firm or have had their start date at a firm deferred. Note: the Public Interest Attorney position is only available to attorneys who will be paid by their law firm (CMLP does not provide a salary or other employment benefits). Candidates must have a Juris Doctor degree with top academic credentials, at least one year of experience, superior writing and verbal skills, sound judgment, and exceptional ethical standards. Internships
The CMLP is looking for interns to perform legal research and draft sections of the Legal Guide and to analyze recent lawsuits and other legal threats involving citizen journalists for the CMLP’s Legal Threats Database. More information can be found on the following pages:
