Frequently Asked Questions - Entering Information Into the Database

Go to this form to enter legal threats in the CMLP database. You can find additional instructions on how to properly enter information into each of the form's fields here. You do not need to be logged into the CMLP website to create a threat entry. Hoewever, you will not be able to subsequently edit any entries that you create unless you were signed in when you created them.

Yes! Before you enter information about a threat into the database using the Threat Entry Form, we ask that you do a search of our database to make sure that an entry does not already exist for that threat. You can search the database from the Legal Threats Database page.

If the threat you want to enter information for is already in the database, you can provide additional information by adding a comment to the threat on its page or by contacting us through the Contact Form.

Don't worry. The only required field is the "Title" field. All other fields are optional. How much information you provide is up to you. If all you have time for is inserting a link to a relevant posting on the Internet, or uploading a relevant document, it is OK to simply create a "Title" and then upload the document (in the "Relevant Documents" field) or insert the link (in the "Related Links" field).

Separate multiple entries with a semicolon (“;”). For example, if you need to enter multiple parties into the Receiving/Defending Parties field, they would be listed: “Joe Smith; Sue Smith; Trey Smith”. If the field requires you to separate entries into different categories, separate each entry within a category with a comma (",") and separate each category with a semicolon. For instance, a typical Legal Counsel field might look like: “Joe Smith, Sue Smith (Plaintiff); Trey Smith (Defendant).”
