I want to create a non-profit organization with sole purpose of promoting billiards (pool). I'm thinking of having a membership fee of $10/yr and redistributing most of the revenue (minus minimal administrative costs <10%) back to its members via scholarships and/or awards based on outcome of a bi-annual or annual tournament.
My questions:
What is the minimum number of directors I'd need?
Is there a minimal number to make a quorum?
Is there a required number of meetings?
Based on my plan of redistributing non-public funds back to its members in the form of scholarships and/or awards, would donations made to the organization still be tax deductible?
Any helpful comments or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Bob B.
