Religious Non-Profit

I've read a lot about tax exempt status for "religious organizations" and raising money for educational purposes. To be blunt, would it be possible, ethical, and/or within the law to start a non-profit for my own personal ministry? This would include raising money for distributing educational materials of a religious nature, money to pay for seminary tuition, and other things related to my personal ministry.
