Exclusive Brethren vs. Peebs.Net & Tim and Sallie Twinam
Sallie and I are pleased to see this case entered into the Threat database. Even the use of the term defines how it has felt to be embroiled in this case.
Currently we cannot say too much as the court has ordered an attempt at settlement between the parties, but we do want to mention our commitment to the cause (the reuniting of family members ripped apart by separatist doctrines) and our heartfelt thanks to the hundreds of ex-cult members and peebs.net community members who have assisted our legal defense costs.
In our opinion it is important that cases such as these are highlighted in the academic, legal, media and public arena. It is an abuse of the already overworked legal system in this country to be able to bring a frivolous suit in order to force court-sanctioned discovery. An anti-SLAPP and/or 'Frivolous-Filter' should be mandatory in all circuits.
We are grateful that organizations such as The Citizen Media Law Project exist and hope that through efforts such as this, much needed legal controls and protections can one day be the norm rather than having to be fought for.

Exclusive Brethren vs. Peebs.Net & Tim and Sallie Twinam
It is encouraging to see this case listed on your rspected website.
The can be no doubt that the real issue is that The Party Issuing Legal Threat is anxious to suppress the infamous truth of the history of the Exclusive Brethren some of which is revealed on the Peebs.net website. In attempting to shut down the Peebs.net site they are marshalling their quite considerable resources to crush Tim & Sal into compliance with their demands. In other legal action they have shown that exhausting the counterparty's financial resources is one of their chief tactics along with various forms of unscrupulous intimidation and bully-boy behaviour.
Tim and Sal have stood firm but the legal costs have been well beyond their means. As there is global interest in this case interested parties have rallied to help Tim and Sal in this Goliath versus David battle.
The outcome of this case will be significant as a precedent for justice for innocent but harrassed underdogs and in protecting freedom of speech through the web.
